Recruit4staff are representing a well-established engineering business in their search for a Plater to work in Hebburn

Job Details:

  • Pay: £18.55 per hour (Overtime paid at £27.83 in the week, and £37.10 on Sundays)
  • Hours of Work: Core hours 37 hours per week, Day shift & night shifts available.
  • The current project is 57 hours per week, 37 hours at basic rate & everything else at enhanced overtime rates. (Current earning potential is circa £1250 per week)  
    • Day Shift: 7am - 7pm Monday to Friday.
    • Night Shift: 7pm - 7am Monday to Friday.
    • Weekend work available.
  • Duration: Temporary (Long-term temporary role)
Job Role: As a Plater, you will be responsible for fabricating structural components and preparing plates using methods such as oxy-fuel gas cutting and hand grinding. You'll fit, fair, and tack weld steelwork, interpret engineering drawings, operate various tools and machinery, and assemble components using lifting gear. This includes pressure testing, drilling, lock fitting, and finishing assemblies to a high standard. Adhering to health and safety procedures is essential.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in heavy gauge fabrication/plating work
  • Experience in the Marine, Nuclear, Steel Fabrication, Off-shore, Petrochemical or Construction industries
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent in Fabrication or Plating
  • Significant experience in marine/ship repair & shipbuilding

Additional Information

  • All candidates must complete BPSS checks or show willingness to undergo the clearance process, and also gain SC clearance
