Recruit4staff are representing an established engineering, fabrication, and welding business in their search for a Workshop Labourer to work in Widnes

Job Details:

  • Pay: £13.59 - £14.00 per hour
  • Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am - Midday
  • Duration: Temporary (Expected to last 3 months)
  • Benefits: 4.5 day working week, varied work, and a strong chance of a permanent contract following the qualifying period.
Job Role: The Workshop Labourer will assist in the mechanical assembly of structural steel components, following simple engineering drawings to pick materials from the yard and transport them into manufacturing areas. Duties will also include manual handling of steel plate and tube, use of hand tools, and providing general support to skilled trades such as welders and fabricators. This is a varied role within a busy engineering environment.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • Mechanical assembly experience
  • Ability to read and interpret simple engineering drawings

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • Engineering qualifications such as NVQs, City & Guilds, or similar
Additional Information
  • All tools and PPE are provided
  • Further training available after qualifying period

  • Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 7.45 – 4.30, Friday 7.45 – 12.45
  • Duration: Temp to Perm
  • Benefits: Opportunity for candidate to gain up-skilling training as a Welder Fabricator
Job Role: The Workshop Operative will be responsible for inspecting non-mechanical system scaffolding, shoring and groundworks equipment for defects, carrying out repairs including MIG welding, cutting, grinding, and manual or hydraulic straightening. Additional duties include linishing, fettling, heating metal using an oxyacetylene torch, and hammering steel into shape.
