Recruit4staff are representing a well-established manufacturing business in their search for a Workshop Operative to work in Widnes

Job Details:

  • Pay: £12.58 per hr - £14.50 per hr (Overtime paid at x1.5)
  • Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am to midday
  • Duration: Temporary (3 months minimum)
  • Benefits: Free parking, potential overtime, future permanent opportunity available
Job Role: The Workshop Operative will support the production team in fabricating and assembling products made from sheet metal. You will operate various metalworking tools such as saws, guillotines, metal forming equipment, and spot welders. The role also includes reading engineering drawings to verify materials, drilling to specification, and assembling components accurately based on technical diagrams.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • Previous experience of assembling products
  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings
  • Experience using hand tools and cutting/forming machines

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • Experience operating a Fork Lift Truck

Job Details:

Job Role: The Yard Operative/ FLT Driver will be responsible for operating an FLT Counterbalance truck (Over 5 tonne), moving steel components and finished pipework around the workshop and yard. You’ll also assist in setting and operating a steel rolling machine, loading and unloading materials, and helping with deliveries.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a steel fabrication, heavy engineering, or steel stockholders environment
  • Proven experience of operating an FLT Counterbalance
  • Experienced with machine setting and operating
  • Experience with yard operations
  • In-date FLT Counterbalance licence

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • NVQ/C&G or equivalent in a manufacturing or engineering-related field
  • FLT Licence B2 (over 5 tonnes up to 15 tonnes)
  • Previous experience working with large steel components
