Recruit4staff are representing a well-established engineering company in their search for a Fabricator Welder to work in Skelmersdale.

Job Role: Fabricator Welders are responsible for fabricating a range of steel products in a workshop setting. This includes working from engineering drawings, fabricating mild steel and structural steel components, and performing MIG welding. The role also involves making tanks, vessels, and structural components while maintaining high-quality standards and accurate work records.

Job Details:

  • Pay: Up to £18 per hour PAYE (Negotiable)
  • Hours of Work: 7am-3:30pm Monday to Thursday, 7am-12:00 Friday
  • Duration: Temp to Perm
  • Overtime Rules: x1.5 in the week and on Saturday, x2 on Sunday

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Fabrication of steel components
  • Working from engineering/technical drawings
  • MIG welding
  • Experience working with mild steel and structural steel

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience making tanks and vessels
  • Working with stainless steel
  • TIG welding
  • Previous experience working as a coded welder

Essential Qualifications:

  • NVQ/C&G in Fabrication and Welding or equivalent
  • Driving Licence

Desired Qualifications:

  • Coded in MIG welding
  • Coded in TIG welding
  • CSCS/CCNSG Card

Job Details:

  • Pay: £21.51 per hour. Overtime Monday to Saturday is paid at x1.5 (£32.27 per hour), with Sunday overtime paid at x2 (£43.02 per hour).
  • Hours of Work: Core working hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a 2:30pm finish on Friday. Overtime is available after core hours and at weekends.

Job Role: As a Plater, you will fabricate structural components and prepare heavy-gauge steel plates using methods including oxy-fuel gas cutting and hand grinding. The Plater will also assemble components using lifting gear, undertake pressure testing, drilling and lock fitting, and finish assemblies to a high standard while adhering to health and safety procedures.

  • Experience within the marine, nuclear, steel fabrication, offshore, petrochemical or construction industries.

  • Ability and willingness to complete BPSS checks and undergo the process required to gain SC clearance.

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Fabrication or Plating.
  • Significant experience within the marine, ship repair or shipbuilding sector as a Plater or in a similar fabrication position.
Additional Information
  • Half-shift overtime is available Monday to Friday between 4:30pm and 6:30pm.
  • Saturday and Sunday overtime hours are 8:00am to 2:00pm.
  • Monday to Saturday overtime is paid at x1.5 (£32.27 per hour).
  • Sunday overtime is paid at x2 (£43.02 per hour).
  • There may be opportunities to work night shifts, with a basic rate of £32.27 per hour and an overtime rate of £43.02 per hour.
  • The Plater may have opportunities to work at other client sites, with out-of-town allowances and project bonuses available.
  • Candidates must bring their own PPE and tools for trade tests and when commencing the assignment.
  • All candidates must complete BPSS checks and be willing and eligible to undergo the process required to gain SC clearance.
