Job Role:

As an Automation Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include developing and reviewing software documentation such as IO schedules and functional design specifications. You’ll also handle snag list-driven modifications, project documentation handovers, and remain commercially aware of scope and allowances. Job Details:

  • Pay: up to £60,000 per annum + company car + bonus scheme

Job Role: As a Works Manager, you will lead all workshop operations, health & safety, and quality management activities. The Works Manager will maintain a visible presence within the workshop, overseeing production flow, managing staff performance, and ensuring efficiency targets are achieved. You will take responsibility for maintaining and communicating H&S policies, reviewing risk assessments and COSHH documentation, delivering toolbox talks, and ensuring statutory inspections are up to date. The Works Manager will also oversee daily workshop activity, mentor apprentices, conduct interviews and trade tests, manage rostering to meet production needs, and ensure workshop facilities and equipment are maintained to a high standard. In addition, you will manage quality assurance processes, compile end-of-project quality packs, ensure finished goods meet required standards, and oversee welding certifications and non-conformance corrective actions. This Works Manager position plays a key role in driving continuous improvement across the business.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Works Manager or similar leadership role within an engineering or manufacturing workshop
  • Experience working in a metal forming or fabrication environment
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Quality Assurance systems, including risk assessments and COSHH
  • Experience with staff management, recruitment, apprenticeship programmes, and production planning
  • Strong communication skills with a decisive and proactive management style

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • Relevant trade background
  • Previous managerial experience within fabrication or heavy engineering
