Recruit4staff are representing a well-established engineering business in their search for a Fabricator Welder to work in St Helens

Job Details:

  • Pay: £17.01 per hour (Overtime paid at x1.5 of basic Monday–Saturday am , x2 of basic on Saturday PM and  Sundays)
  • Hours of Work: 38 hours per week – Monday to Thursday, 8am–4:30pm, Friday 8am–2pm
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Benefits: Up to 6% employer pension contribution, 20 days holiday + bank holidays, Welplan Insurance, PPE provided (Overalls, T-shirts, Jumpers, £35 Safety Boots voucher)
Job Role: As a Fabricator Welder, you will be responsible for welding aluminium, copper, and steel using MIG and TIG processes. Duties include fabricating steel components and welding assemblies from technical drawings, and operating hand tools and workshop machinery. You will also maintain a safe and clean working environment with good housekeeping standards.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • MIG welding experience on aluminium or stainless steel
  • Ability to fabricate and assemble products working from technical engineering drawings

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • C&G/NVQ in Fabrication and Welding or equivalent
  • CSCS Card/CCNSG or equivalent
  • Full Driving Licence

  • PPE provided by the client (Overalls, T-shirts, Jumpers, £35 Safety Boots voucher)

Job Role: The Pipe Welder will be based at a customer’s manufacturing site, responsible for TIG welding hygienic pipework. Daily tasks include reading and working from drawings, site installation and workshop welding, along with some fabrication work. The role also includes pipe fitting duties alongside other team members, maintaining and repairing piping systems, welding stainless steel and carbon steel pipework to specification, testing systems for leaks, and collaborating to ensure efficient project completion. Additional on-site support outside of primary duties may be required.

The Plater will use chains, cranes, and hoists to move plates into position and assemble them into final structures, finishing off with grinding and polishing while maintaining high-quality standards and following health and safety procedures.

  • Proven expertise in heavy gauge fabrication/plating work
  • Experience in the Marine, Nuclear, Steel fabrication, Off-shore, Petro-chemical, or Construction industries

  • City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent in Fabrication or Plating
  • Significant experience in marine/ship repair and shipbuilding

Additional Information:

  • Half shift available between 4:30pm-6:30pm (Overtime)
  • Saturday & Sunday Working Hours 8am-2pm (Overtime)
  • Overtime Rate 1: Monday to Saturday is paid at x1.5 (£31.29 per hour)
  • Overtime Rate 2: on Sunday is paid at x2 (£41.72 per hour)
  • All candidates must complete BPSS checks or willingness to undergo the clearance process, and also gain SC clearance
